I'm a big Kurzweil fan in case you guys hadn't noticed, so I thought that it might be a good idea to devote a thread to the great man. A panel of 25 AI scientists, roboticists, and ethical and legal scholars (under the auspices of The Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence) finds there to be little likelihood of a technical "Singularity" in the foreseeable future, according to a recent New Scientist article. The results of their investigation into the risks of AI was presented at the International Joint Conference for Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) in Pasadena, California, on 15 July.

why aren't we artificial intelligence---who says that we are natural organic beings anyway?---the universe may have been programmed to create through the processes we are aware of our very selves --what is so natural about that?---
